At Kolide, we have a small yet wickedly talented marketing department led by Nick Fitzsimmons. Working alongside designer Sam Schuna and our resident wordsmith Elaine Atwell, I crafted this nearly 100% CG explainer animation in a relatively short period.
Once we locked the story, I quickly began mocking up wireframe animations of the castle and helped narrow the scope of the castle setting. From there, I crafted the look of the world, modeling every asset from scratch. The characters were animated using a combination of keyframing and Mixamo. I worked closely with Sam to craft the design of the TV screen animations, and Product provided all UI/UX mockups.
The Kolide Product Explainer was the first of many projects in which we partnered with two outside vendors to help polish our audio—special thanks to Elsa Levytsky for providing the VO and Sarah Krohn for crafting the sound design.
